McKesson Medical-Surgical relocates HQ, hiring expected

RICHMOND, Va. — McKesson Medical-Surgical moved its divisional headquarters to 170,000 square feet of new space in the Deep Run III office building in Richmond. The medical and surgical supplies distributor, a division of drug wholesale giant McKesson Corporation, relocated 750, primarily full-time employees. The company spent $10 million in renovating the third, fourth and fifth floors of its new headquarters building.

The company had been in its previous headquarters since 1974, and was running out of space. As one of the area’s largest private employers, McKesson Medical-Surgical needed to relocate to more suitable offices to retain and attract employees. The company has grown its local employment about 30 percent recently and expects to add 225 jobs over the next several years.

According to its website, McKesson Medical-Surgical posted annual revenue of $6 billion and employs 7,800 at more than 50 locations nationwide. It offers more products, distribution services, solutions and clinical support to healthcare providers than other medical supply distributors.
